Hospital declares climate emergency

More than eleven hundred doctors have signed an open letter warning about the mental and physical health damage caused by global warming and calling for urgent action.

However the NHS itself produces millions of tonnes of waste, and is responsible for  6.3% of England’s total carbon emissions.

Today Newcastle Foundation Trust became the first in the health service to declare a climate emergency. They plan to be carbon neutral by 2040 but how?
