How are campus protests affecting US politics?

The ongoing protests against the war in Gaza that have been galvanising students at colleges across the USA.

There were violent scenes at the University of California in Los Angeles as pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel campaigners clashed on campus overnight. And in New York, police moved in to end an occupation and clear a protest camp at Columbia University, arresting 109 people in the process.
