Early results in Hong Kong’s district elections appear to show big gains for pro-democracy candidates. Turnout was huge with 70% of voters turning out, forming long queues outside polling stations.
The elections are being seen as a referendum on the extent of public support for the protest movement which has rocked the territory since June.
