Hurricane Beryl devastates Caribbean islands as Category 5 storm

Beryl by name. Beast by nature. Hurricane Beryl has intensified into a potentially catastrophic Category 5 storm, now barrelling towards Jamaica.

It’s already swept through Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines, killing at least three people and destroying many homes.

The World Meteorological Organisation says it’s the region’s earliest Category 5 storm on record, in what they fear will be a “very dangerous” hurricane season.
