Hurricane Idalia: ‘Catastrophic’ storm hits Florida

By the time it came ashore on the Florida coast, Idalia was a Category 3 hurricane – deemed ‘extremely dangerous’ by experts.

Millions of people evacuated or sheltered at home as winds gusted up to 110 miles an hour. Nearly 280,000 people were left without power and at least two people have died.
