‘I violated my moral compass working for Trump,’ former lawyer testifies

Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen has told a court that he made a hush money payment in an attempt to to influence the 2016 election on Mr Trump’s behalf. Mr Cohen, who has emerged as the star witness in the trial, claimed he had violated his moral compass by working for Mr Trump, and was now suffering the penalty.

As he gave evidence, some leading Republicans arrived at the courthouse to support Mr Trump – including the House Speaker Mike Johnson.
