Idris Elba: Diversity is ‘now part of our fabric’

When actor Idris Elba first received the scripts for the gritty detective series Luther he thought it was a drama about the American singer Luther Vandross.

But now, after over a decade as the star of the psychological crime thriller, he’s back with a feature length version made for Netflix.

We spoke to him and the man who created Luther about the hard-hitting role, diversity and the need for meritocracy in casting.
