‘I’m grateful to represent 20 million displaced people’, says paralympic guide runner

Athletes from ParalympicsGB have begun arriving in Paris for the start of this years games.

215 athletes will represent Great Britain, with the team’s highest number of female athletes in its history.

Alongside 81 people making their debut at the Games are 49 Paralympic champions – all hoping to add to their medal collection over the 11 days of competition.

The Games will formally kick off with the opening ceremony this Wednesday.

We spoke to the flagbearer for the Paralympics’ largest ever Refugee Team, para athlete Guillaume Junior Atan-gana, and his guide runner Donard Ndim Nyam-jua.

We began by asking what it means to them, to be representing the Refugee team.
