Impossible for energy companies to operate if prices remain high, says chief exec

It will be impossible for any energy company to keep going in the UK  market if gas prices remain at their current high levels.

That warning comes from the boss of Together Energy, one of those companies fighting to survive. He was speaking exclusively to this programme.

The problems facing Together Energy will also pose questions for Warrington Borough Council – which has invested tens of millions of pounds of taxpayer cash in the company.

The council says the investment is worthwhile because it has created jobs and fought fuel poverty – and claim that like all other energy companies, it has naturally suffered in the current environment.
