Inside the ‘horrific’ conditions at Wandsworth prison

Rats, cockroaches, mouldy cells, and high levels of violence and self-harm. The Chief Inspector of Prisons says the “filthy” conditions at HMP Bedford are some of the worst he’s ever seen.

Tonight, we report on another Victorian jail – HMP Wandsworth in south London. It’s one of the most overcrowded prisons in England and Wales, and among those the Chief Inspector says should be closed down.
