International Criminal Court prosecutor seeks arrest warrants for Israel PM and Hamas leaders

The Chief Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defence minister – as well as the Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar and two other leaders – over what he said were crimes against humanity.

The British lawyer Karim Khan thanked a team of eminent international advisers including Britain’s Baroness Kennedy and the lawyer Amal Clooney – and said acts committed in the October 7th raid on Israel, and the subsequent seven months of war in Gaza “demand accountability”.
