Iran elections: voting expected to be at record lows as polls close

Here in Iran, they’ve just extended voting in their parliamentary elections til midnight. The regime kept the polls open in the hope more people would show.

Turnout is expected to be at record lows. With many reformists banned from running and a brutal crackdown on protests many people are boycotting the vote. I should explain a little of how free WE are to report.

We are only allowed to film in Tehran, and have to get permission to cover most things – often the answer is no. We were turned away from two polling stations today. We can’t interview certain opposition figures. But we are not censored in that we don’t have to show our material to anyone before you see it.
