Is England heading for a drought?

It’s official: the first half of the year has been the driest in England since 1976.

But it’s not officially a drought – at least not yet.

Government officials met today with water companies to make plans for what they’ll do if the hot and dry weather conditions continue into August – raising the spectre of water restrictions like hosepipe bans.
