Is expected increase in water bills enough to tackle sewage pollution?

If the regulator Ofwat has its way – water bills in England and Wales could go up by an average of £19 a year until 2030. But water companies have insisted it isn’t nearly enough to tackle problems like sewage pollution.

It’s an issue that dogged the last government so today the environment secretary Steve Reed summoned industry bosses for urgent talks – and called for a “reset moment”.
