Israel bombs Gaza and Lebanon as two killed in Hezbollah attack

President Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu have held their first call since August, lasting 50 minutes and with Vice President Kamala Harris listening in.

It comes as Israel considers how to respond to Iran’s recent ballistic missile attack, with its defence minister warning that any retaliation will be “lethal” and “surprising”.

Meanwhile, the UN says Israel’s intensified operations in northern Gaza have forced it to evacuate seven schools sheltering displaced people. The army has also ordered three hospitals to evacuate.
