Israel-Gaza: US plans to build port in Gaza to ship in supplies as Israel prevents more aid by land

Growing calls for Israel to allow desperately-needed aid into Gaza appear to be falling on deaf ears. So instead, the US plans to go round its main ally in the Middle East. In his State of the Union speech tonight, President Biden will announce that the US military is to build a temporary port in Gaza so the besieged enclave can receive aid by sea.

And it can’t come soon enough. The World Food Programme says Israel is turning away its aid convoys, despite hunger reaching catastrophic levels in northern Gaza, with people eating animal feed to survive.
