Fifty years ago Merle Hoffman was on the frontline of the battle to secure legal abortions for American women – opening one of the first abortion clinics in the country.

But now, with Roe v Wade overturned, the need for women to travel across states for the procedure has once again returned with many arriving at her clinic in Queens, New York.
