Italy’s major cities on red alert as heatwave continues to devastates Europe

Almost all Italy’s major cities are under red alert for extreme heat amid the heatwave that’s intensifying across southern Europe.

Temperatures are reaching highs of 46 degrees in the islands of Sicily and Sardinia, and the EU is rushing firefighters and aircraft to Greece to help battle wildfires raging near Athens.

But that’s just one part of Europe where flames are reaching people’s homes before the fire service can.
