Johnson approved evacuation of animals from Afghanistan, emails suggest

The prime minister faced more questions today on his conduct – not on parties this time, but on his possible involvement in the evacuation of animals from Kabul.

Official emails claim that he personally approved a rescue operation for an animal shelter run by the former marine Pen Farthing.

But today a Downing Street spokesperson insisted “the prime minister had no role in authorising individual evacuations” when the Taliban took over Afghanistan last year.
