Johnson cancels trip to India as it is added to Covid travel ‘red list’

The prime minister will not visit India next week as a result of the continuing surge in cases there.

And India has now been added to the so-called ‘red list’ of travel ban countries.

This comes as the government has confirmed the latest data for vaccinations in the last 24-hour period. Some 83,000 people received  their first dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday, and 221,000 people had their second dose.

More than 32 million people have now received their first dose of a vaccine, and about 10 million people have now had both doses.
