Johnson confirms independent public inquiry into handling of pandemic

Boris Johnson has confirmed that there will be an independent public inquiry into the handling of the Covid pandemic. He told MPs that the country was owed as much transparency as possible.

But it will be some time before that happens. The scope of the inquiry has yet to be agreed and it will not begin its work until next spring.
