Julian Assange in last-ditch appeal to stop US extradition

Lawyers for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange have launched a last-ditch appeal to stop him being extradited to the United States.

His lawyers told the first day of a two-day hearing at the High Court that the US prosecuting him for disclosing military secrets is “state retaliation”.

The court also heard sensational claims about an alleged CIA murder plot. Mr Assange himself was not well enough to attend the proceedings.
