June Brown: EastEnders’ Dot Cotton dies aged 95

June Brown – better known as Dot Cotton, the chain-smoking doyenne of EastEnders’ Albert Square – has died at the age of 95.

She played the role for more than 30 years, making her one of the longest-running soap stars on British television.

A spokesperson for the show said that her “loving warmth, wit and great humour” would never be forgotten.
