Junior doctors strike: ‘Patients risk being stuck in hospital at Christmas unnecessarily’, say charities

Patients risk being stuck in hospital over Christmas unnecessarily because of the latest junior doctors strike. That’s the warning from a group of organisations including Age UK and the Patients Association, in a joint letter outlining their fears about the impact of the 72-hour action that began at 7 this morning.

The Health Secretary has echoed their concerns, but the junior doctors’ leaders accused the government of walking away from pay talks.
