Kinship carers struggle as they’re forced out of work, survey finds

Since time immemorial, grandparents, aunts, uncles and older siblings have stepped in to bring up children whose parents aren’t able to look after them. It’s known as ‘kinship care’, and keeps thousands from entering the care system.

But a new charity survey has found that in England and Wales such carers are struggling to cope financially, largely because they’re being forced out of work.
