Labour struggles to shake gifts and donors row as party conference begins

“There’s nothing too good for the workers” – the legendary quip about why socialists should enjoy the finer things in life shows there’s nothing new about Labour politicians being ensnared in scandals about gifts and good living.

This morning Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner became the latest to defend the right of politicians to accept hospitality and donations but said she could understand why people are ‘angry’.
