Labour suspends Mike Amesbury MP after video appears to show him punching man

One headache Sir Keir Starmer wasn’t anticipating was the shocking footage which emerged over the weekend of a Labour MP appearing to punch someone to the ground before hitting him repeatedly.

Mike Amesbury – who represents Runcorn and Helsby – has now been suspended from the party pending an investigation, with the Prime Minister today describing the video as ‘shocking’.
