Lawyers warn plans to use navy to tackle migrant crossings could be unlawful

Record numbers of migrants are risking the journey in small boats across the Channel to reach the UK – with more than 4,000 people making the crossing so far this year.

Today 12 people were taken ashore in Dover by a Border Force patrol boat – while lawyers have warned that the Government’s plan to send in the Royal Navy to tackle the number of crossings would be dangerous and unlawful.
