Lib Dems conference: can Davey’s party replace the Conservatives?

Here at the Liberal Democrat conference in Brighton, many delegates are still euphoric at their party’s haul of seventy two seats at the General Election.

But behind the scenes some are wondering what they should do with that success. Should they limit their ambitions to holding onto their new gains? Or do they have a chance of winning enough seats at the next election to become the main opposition party?
