Lib Dems pledge public services investment via taxes on banks and super rich

Senior Political Correspondent

The Liberal Democrats have launched their election manifesto, promising to make major investments in health, social care and public services.

Party leader Sir Ed Davey said it would be funded by tax rises of almost £27 billion – with the burden falling on banks and the super rich.

The Lib Dems also pledged to take the UK back into the European Union single market.
