Life after Nicola Sturgeon: who will be Scotland’s next leader?

The race to become Scotland’s next First Minister has begun – tonight the Scottish National Party’s national executive is meeting via video conference to decide the timetable for the leadership contest.

There have already been calls from senior politicians to postpone the party’s planned conference on the next steps towards independence – until after a successor to Nicola Sturgeon is in place.
