London fire chief calls for research on tower blocks ‘stay put’ policy

London’s fire chief has called for urgent government research on the ‘stay put policy’ in tower blocks fires, a fortnight before the Grenfell public inquiry is to publish its findings.

Dany Cotton admits the brigade lacked planning and training on the night of the fire when 72 people died, but says the blame lies with the failed building, not her firefighters.
