London police officers hand back weapons after colleague charged with murder

Soldiers could fill in for armed police after dozens of Metropolitan Police officers stood down from firearms duties following a murder charge against one of their colleagues.

Scotland Yard has requested military support for counter-terrorism duties if armed officers are unavailable.

The Home Secretary has ordered a review of the situation.
