Luis Rubiales: Spanish football regional leaders demand scandal-hit president to resign

The Spanish Football Federation’s regional leaders have called on suspended president Luis Rubiales to step down after he kissed midfielder Jenni Hermoso on the lips without her consent – following her team’s World Cup win.

As Spanish prosecutors launched a preliminary investigation into potential sexual assault – the the United Nations has given its backing to Ms Hermoso – saying everyone has a responsibility to “call out and challenge” sexual harassment and abuse.
