Luke Brooks inquest: Mother tells court her son’s home was cold, damp and mouldy

“This house put me in hospital and now it has killed my son” – the words of a mother shortly after her son died in their damp and mouldy home last year.

An inquest at Rochdale Coroner’s Court has been hearing evidence about the death of 27-year-old Luke Brooks, which his family claim was linked to mould in their rented home.

Mr Brooks died in October last year after developing an acute respiratory illness.

His mother Patricia told the court that their landlord and Oldham council had ignored their repeated appeals for help
