Macedonia to Serbia: along the way to the EU

Channel 4 News travels to the eastern borders of the EU where our International Editor, Lindsey Hilsum, has been on the train with people – mostly Syrians – desperate to make a new life in Europe.

Her journey started in Gevgevjia, a small Macedonian town on the border with Greece – from where many people take the train to Tabanovtse to cross into Serbia. From here they go on buses to the capital Belgrade and on to the border with Hungary.
