Maida Vale deaths: Driver appeals to police to de-arrest him after he used his car to stop knifeman

A passing motorist who used his car to try to stop a knifeman attacking his ex-partner has issued a statement asking not to be prosecuted.

His vehicle struck and killed Leon McCaskre as he carried out an attack on Yasmin Chkaifi in west London on Monday.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of murder, but later released on bail.

He has now issued a video statement via his solicitor asking not to face charges.
