The border between Northern Ireland and the Republic has again become a dividing line in the Brexit negotiations.
Within an hour of the European Commission publishing a draft legal text that proposed a “common regulatory area” on the island of Ireland, Theresa May was on her feet in the Commons, saying that “no UK Prime Minister could ever agree to it”.
Later, a former Conservative prime minister told Theresa May her Brexit policy is unrealistic. Sir John Major said maybe the public should have the chance to vote again.
