‘Majority want more progressive politics’, says outgoing Green MP Caroline Lucas

Climate change poses an unprecedented challenge to lawmakers across the globe.

But today, the UK’s first and only Green MP Caroline Lucas announced she’d stand down at the next election.

While she has increased her majority in her Brighton constituency at every election since she was first elected in 2010, the Greens failed to secure any more seats thanks in large part to Britain’s first-past-the-post electoral system.

We sat down with her in Brighton this afternoon and asked why she had decided to leave parliament.
