Man dies as Storm Ciara causes damage and disruption across UK

Emergency financial aid will be made available by the Government to areas badly hit by Storm Ciara, which has left thousands of homes without power, damaged buildings and caused widespread disruption to travel.

A 58-year-old man was killed in Hampshire at the height of the gales when his car was hit by a falling tree.

And forecasters have warned of hazardous weather to come, with heavy snow and ice in some areas and many flood warnings still in force.
