Mark Drakeford resigns as Wales’ First Minister

Wales’ first minister, Mark Drakeford, has announced he’s stepping down – triggering a contest for his successor.

Mr Drakeford, who’s been in the job since 2018, had always said he would go before the end of the current Senedd, and today he declared that now was the time.
