Mat Fraser on playing Richard III, Shakespeare’s disabled anti-hero

Communities Editor

Oh to play the king, especially one this awful or misunderstood. Sir Ian McKellen, Kevin Spacey and Mark Rylance have all been Richard III. Now Mat Fraser is the latest to join this distinguished list. Not so famous, perhaps, but he does have something the others don’t: a physical disability. It means he can bring a new, real-life dimension to Shakespeare’s disabled anti-hero.
