Missing Chinese actress Fan Bingbing ‘fined for tax evasion’

She was missing for three months, sparking endless speculation, but the Chinese actor Fan Bingbing has suddenly broken her silence, apologising to the authorities after she was accused of tax evasion.

Fan, who’s one of China’s most prominent stars, has starred in western blockbusters like X-Men and been the face of well-known brands.

Now she’s been ordered to pay about £100 million in fines and unpaid taxes and said she was “deeply ashamed” that she had avoided paying her dues.
