More domestic abuse victims are taking own lives than those killed by partner

Data Correspondent and Presenter

The number of domestic abuse victims taking their own lives is now even higher than the number being killed by an abusive partner.

Data from the National Police Chiefs’ Council highlights the scale of abuse in England and Wales. It shows at least one suicide victim every four days, and a murder by a partner every four to five days. The report also shows that in four out of five of those cases, the abuser was already known to the police.
