More police deployed in lockdown Leicester than on New Year’s Eve

One city where lockdown restrictions won’t be eased yet is Leicester, where police say they’ve deployed more officers on the streets than during a typical New Year’s Eve.

But the Leicestershire force has only been given new powers to enforce the measures today, four days after the local lockdown was announced.
