MPs grill civil servants over billions spent on PPE during Covid

Civil servants have been grilled by MPs over the billions spent on personal protective equipment (PPE) at the height of the pandemic.

There was enormous pressure to find protective clothing for NHS staff and care home workers as the virus took hold in the spring.

But MPs have been frustrated at the answers they have received about how and why such huge sums were spent.
