MPs visit Morecambe in food bank tour for chronic poverty report

We live in a “pressure cooker society”. That’s what some people in Morecambe told Frank Field and Heidi Allen today, as the MPs visited the town as part of their tour of Britain’s food banks.

The Conservative and former Labour politicians are gathering evidence for a report into the causes of chronic poverty.

They heard how some residents felt ashamed by the stigma of being on benefits.
