MPs vote against proposal to extend free school meals over the holidays

Footballer Marcus Rashford has been joined by senior Conservatives, including the chairman of the Education Select Committee, in calling on the government to extend free school meal vouchers in the holidays for children in England.

But having capitulated to a similar campaign earlier in the year, the government seems determined not to budge this time.
