MPs have inflicted yet another defeat on the Government over Brexit – backing a move which could stop the next Prime Minister shutting down Parliament to force through a no-deal exit from the EU.

Margot James resigned as Digital Minister after joining 17 Conservatives who voted against the Government – while several other senior figures including the Chancellor abstained. And the Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, didn’t take part in the vote at all.
