‘My city is gone,’ says Mayor after tornado tears across Mississippi

At least twenty-three people were killed and dozens more injured when a devastating tornado hit the US state of Mississippi overnight.

Emergency services were left to appeal on Twitter for help with the search and rescue effort after the town of Rolling Fork was destroyed by a direct hit – the verdict of the mayor this morning: “My city is gone”.
